Cooperation between Italy and Albania - infrastructure and transport

At a meeting held in Bari, Italy, a few days ago, 20 Apulian companies and an Albanian delegation, represented and led by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Enkelejda Muçaj, discussed possible cooperation within the framework of bilateral agreements between the two countries.

In particular, infrastructure and logistics were discussed. The business meeting is intended to be part of the expansion of economic relations.
This is because Albania in particular has made great strides in strengthening its networks - road, rail and sea. Albania has also focused on the digitalisation of infrastructures and processes.

Italy, and Puglia in particular, was therefore proposed as a privileged partner in these projects to provide innovative contributions. An agreement was therefore signed between the two countries to facilitate an intensive cooperation programme. In concrete terms, this will not only involve the Internum, but also links with neighbouring countries.

This will also lead to a growing economic exchange, which is expected to generate large sums of money. The volume of trade between the two countries currently stands at around 3.3 billion euros, with Lombardy and Apulia playing a central role. A trade volume of 500 million euros has been recorded, confirming its role as one of the main economic drivers of bilateral relations. Puglia, with its strong infrastructure and technology, plays a very important role here.
The aim of both countries is to create the conditions for sustainable cooperation in order to promote and support both economies in the long term. Both countries are therefore interested in and committed to long-term cooperation.
